Release of 14 prisoners postponed in Karabuk Prison 2025-08-14 14:00:51 ANKARA – The release of 14 prisoner at Karabuk T-Type Closed Prison was postponed between April and August on various grounds.      Human rights violations against prisoners in Turkey continue. Alişan Şahin, a lawyer and member of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (OHD), visited the prison on August 13 and met with the prisoners.    Şahin stated that the release postponements were made on arbitrary and unlawful grounds, noting that these decisions were issued without the legally required six-month review, which constitutes a violation of prison regulation and the law.    The names of the prisoners and the duration of the postponement are as follows:    “*Hasan Öğüt: 10 months, 4 days   *Ali Koç: 2 years   *Mehmet Sarıaltun: 8 months   *Aydın Kudat: 7 months   *Abdurrahman Güner: 8 months   *Ejder Doğan: 7 montsh    *Halil Temel: 8 months   *Haydar Alkoç: 1 year   *Hacı Aslan: 6 months   *Ali Haydar Elyakut: 6 months   *Muhittin Pirinçioğlu: 6 months   *Mehmet Şirin Taşdemir: 6 months   *Adem Oktay: 6 months   *Hakkı Aygün: 6 months”   MA / Zeynep Topdemir
