TJA calls for solidarity with prisoners on hunger strike

	DİYARBAKIR - TJA expressed concern over the hunger strikes that started in prisons and called for awareness. "We should show solidarity with free prisoners," said TJA.

	 

	The Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad -TJA) made a written statement regarding the hunger strikes launched by PKK and PAJK prisoners in Turkey’s prisons on November 27.

	 

	The statement said, "Kurdish women have rebelled against all kinds of occupation, cultural genocide, sexism, bigotry and militarism in the truth of the freedom struggle, especially in prison resistance, and reclaimed the flag of freedom and resistance. The resilient and libertarian Kurdish women including Sara, Leyla and Çağla pioneered the struggle in a sacred way.”

	 

	The statement also pointed to the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, saying, "The aggravated isolation in the person of the leader of the peoples, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, has been imposed on all free prisoners for 21 years. The isolation policies of AKP-MHP have increased ten times more during the pandemic. The rights violations against free prisoners have reached the highest level.”

	 

	'WE SALUTE THE RESISTANCE; LET'S NOT BE SILENT '

	 

	The statement concluded with the following: "As is known, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan played a great role in the resolution process and thus became the voice and hope of the oppressed peoples in the world. We, as TJA, salute the hunger strikes led by women and we call on all women, youth, institutions, organizations and the general public not to remain silent and to stand in solidarity with free prisoners."
