'Kobané' operation against HDP: Scores under custody 2020-09-25 09:33:58 NEWS CENTER - Within the scope of the investigation on Kobané protests conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, scores of people including HDP Central Executive Board members from 2014, are detained. BİLGEN AND ÖNDER UNDER CUSTODY   Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued warrants for 82 people in 7 provinces regarding the investigation on the Kobané protests from back in October 5-8, 2014.  As part of the investigation, many people, including members of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Central Executive Board (MYK) from 2014, were detained    Kars Municipality Co-chair Ayhan Bilgen, HDP RTÜK Member Ali Ürküt, HDP Foreign Relations Commission Member Nazmi Gür, HDP former MYK Member Can Memiş, HDP Ankara former Deputy and İmralı Delegation Member Sırrı Süreyya Önder was detained in scope of the investigation.   HDP MYK criticized the government's Kobanê policy with a statement made during the October 5-8 protests and called for solidarity to the public.   STATEMENT FROM THE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE   Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a written statement regarding the investigation. The statement underlined that during the Kobané protests back in October 6-7-8, 2014 'so called executives of PKK/KCK terror organization, the youth structuring of the organization, the women's structuring, the urban armed structuring and HDP MYK members and co-chairs have called the people to take the streets and carry out terrorist actions'.    OPERATION AFTER THE WEDDING   The investigation, conducted by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman, who visited the AKP's President Tayyip Erdoğan at the palace after his wedding, was launched a year ago. Within the scope of the investigation, the statements of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ were taken first. Demirtaş, who was released from the file in which he was jailed, was taken into custody and re-arrested the same day.
