Loss of life due to Covid-19 rises to 5,858 2020-08-11 10:37:54   NEWS CENTER - The Ministry of Health has announced that Turkey’s coronavirus death toll has risen to 5,858 and the total number of cases to 241,997. 14 people have died of the virus and 1,193 people have tested positive in the last 24 hours.   The Ministry of Health announced the latest figures on novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Turkey yesterday (August 10).   While 1,193 people have tested positive, 14 people have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. 1,211 people have recovered. The number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours has been announced as 62,219.   According to the figures announced till today, 5,326,035 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Turkey so far. While the total number of cases is 241,997, the death toll has reached 5,858.   While 603 patients are reportedly in critical condition, the rate of COVID-19 patients with pneumonia has been announced as 8.2 percent. The total number of recovered patients is 224,970.   Citing the Ministry of Health data, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca has also said on Twitter, "The daily test count is close to its highest level during the pandemic. The ratio of active patients aged 60 and over to the total patients ranges between 20-25 percent in the country."   Minister Koca has also added that, with 35 percent, the provinces of Gümüşhane and Uşak have the highest rate in that regard.   Since originating in China last December, COVID-19 has claimed over 732,400 lives in 188 countries and regions. Nearly 19.93 million cases have been reported worldwide while over 12.14 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
