DFG Association says 98 journalists are currently in prison 2020-08-06 11:00:24 DİYARBAKIR - Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) said that journalists have been subjected to pressure and prohibitions also in the month of July.   According to the report, last month, violations of rights started with RTÜK, Tele 1 and Halk Tv suspension for a number of days.   The DFG said that 60 journalists appeared in court in July and Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform Spokesperson and Jinnews editor Ayşe Güney and Jinnews editor Sibel Hürtaş were remanded in custody. Reporters following news were attacked, news websites were blocked and rights violations were carried out.   Drawing attention to the regulations targeting social networks, the DGF described this step as an “attempt to violate the freedom of thought and expression of millions of people”.   In Turkey, 98 journalists are currently in prison, said the report which added that 2 journalists were detained in July, 3 journalists were attacked, news coverage of journalists was prevented in 2 incidents, 4 journalists were investigated, lawsuits were filed against 3 journalists, 1 journalist was punished, 64 journalists were on trial, internet access was blocked for 8 news and a total of 124 URL addresses.
