Second phase in HDP's struggle program: Democracy Meetings 2020-07-06 14:58:26   ANKARA - Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) will start the second phase of the Democratic Struggle Program in the Turkish Parliament tomorrow. Having taken to the streets with the "March for Democracy" HDP will continue its political action with “Democracy Meetings”.   Following the declaration of a nine-point document of democratic attitude on June 1 defining a ground for struggle to form an alliance of democracy, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) started the "March for Democracy against the Coup" in the northwestern Edirne and the southeastern Hakkari provinces. Now HDP starts a series of actions under the name "Democracy Meetings". The actions announced by HDP under the name of "Democratic Struggle Program" will continue until September 1, World Peace Day.   SECOND PHASE STARTS IN THE PARLIAMENT   After the HDP Central Executive Board meeting to be held during the day, the second phase of the Democratic Struggle Program be started in the Turkish Parliament. A press statement will be held tomorrow in the parliament with the participation of the HDP Co-Chairs, Mithat Sancar and Pervin Buldan as the message of “We come for the tight to defense together” against the multiple bar draft bill which is on the agenda of the parliament.   PEACE THEMED DEMOCRACY MEETINGS    "Democracy Meetings" will be held by HDP throughout July. While the democracy discourse will be prominent against the anti-democratic practices, the maxim of "Peace against war" will be the main demand of the meetings. During this second phase, meetings will be held with different religious and ethnic groups, workers, intellectuals, journalists, women, ecologists and the youth.   HDP will hold the meeting under 10 topics. The first meeting will be held with the topic called "Right to Defense". Open-air meetings on "Law and Human Rights", "Rights of Labor", "Saying No to War and Poverty", "Freedom of Peoples, Equality of Beliefs", "Justice" and “Democracy" are on the agenda of the HDP's schedule.   All the activities will be carried out open-air with masks taking the public health and physical distance as priority due to coronavirus pandemic.   MA / Berivan Altan
