Last farewell to Kurdish politican Tekin died from COVID-19 2020-06-28 16:56:40 BATMAN - The funeral of Kurdish politican Haydar Tekin, who lost his life in Diyarbakır, was held Batman by his friends and family. The Kurdish politician Haydar Tekin was reported to lose his life while he was receiving treatment for the COVID-19 in Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital. His family and friends bid farewell to Tekin in his funeral ceremony in Kozluk district of his hometown, Batman.    WHO IS HAYDAR TEKİN?   Tekin, who was born in Kozluk district of Batman province in 1969, was arrested in 1992 as a result of the testimonies of the village guards and he was acquitted from the case after 9 years of prison. He served as the Democratic People's Party (DEHAP) Batman Provincial Chairman in 2001, and in 2007 he worked as the Managing Director of the Azadiya Welat (Free Homeland) Newspaper, a daily newspaper in Kurdish. In 2011, Tekin was arrested as part of the "KCK (The Kurdistan Communities Union) press" case and served some time in prison again.
