16 detained activists referred to court 2020-06-28 16:29:51 DİYARBAKIR - 16 activists who were detained within the scope of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) investigation have been referred to court after the detention procedures were completed in the police station. The office of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) in Diyarbakır province was stormed by the police early Friday morning in the scope of an investigation launched by Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office over the data and documents seized during a raid carried out on October 9, 2018. A number of people were taken into custody following the raids on the DTK and houses of activists during the day. Following the police searches that continued for hours the DTK office was sealed and 43 people were detained, 16 out of which have been referred to court after the detention procedures were completed in the police station.   Within the scope of the investigation launched in Diyarbakır 43 people were detained on June 26 in the house raids in İzmir, Istanbul, Adana, Şırnak, Batman and Van. Among the people who got detained were the activists from DTK, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Rosa Women's Association and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) as well as a number of non-governmental organization administrators, Silvan Municipality Co-mayor Naşide Toprak and some lawyers.
